IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR SHADE SAIL PROJECT

Information below applies to Custom-Made Shade Sails and Standard Installations.

 SHADE SAILS . . .Visual & Functional.

  • The uniqueness and beauty of the sails has everything to do with the shapes and cantenary CURVES of perimeters of the sails. The larger the     sail - the larger the curve in the center.

  • Sails can be overlapped for continuous coverage or spaced apart for partial sun exposure.

  • Sketches we provide are design concepts ONLY and are often not to scale. Engineer and PE Stamp drawings are available for a nominal fee.

  • Custom Shade Sails allows for flexibility and creativity. If our drawings spur additional design ideas your own, please do not hesitate to share them with us.

ESTIMATES . . .are exactly that!

  • The purpose of the drawings & estimates are to give you a “ballpark” price range for your shade project and to share ideas of potential design options.

  • Sails are priced based on material grade and total linear footage of sails.

  • The actual cost of a sail cannot be determined until point-to-point measurements are taken which occurs after hardware & columns have been installed.

  • The number of corners determines the amount of stainless steel hardware that will be needed for attachment points. The more corners, the more hardware, and the more labor involved.

  • Whenever possible, our designers try to limit the number of steel columns used, and when used - maximize by using a single column for multiple attachment points.

  • important - Sails can be sized according to your budget. For example, if we need to reduce cost of project, we can adjust the size of the sails themselves.

  • Your Shade Sail project can also be done in phases adding sails as budgets permit.

PRODUCTS. . Nothing but the BEST!

  • Our sails are made of a high-density polyethylene fabric that is treated with UV stabilizer that protects you – and the sails themselves. Life expectancy of the fabrics has a range from 8-10 years for Custom Sails and 5-7 for Ready-Made Sails.

  • Our Custom Sails have a stainless steel cable throughout perimeter of sail (different than other sails!) and have been tested to withstand up to 80 mile an hour wind speeds.

  • We use marine grade stainless steel for all of our hardware that is warranted for 1 year and has a life expectancy of 8 to 10 years.

  • The standard columns are 12 feet in length, made of galvanized steel, are schedule 40 and 4 inch in diameter. The columns arrive on-site sanded and painted with a primer. They can later be painted the color of your choice.  Sails design may require non-standard, upgraded steel columns.

  • Footings for the columns are made of high-grade cement for filling a standard four-foot deep hole.

PROCESS . . . Estimated project timeframe ranges 4 to 6 weeks depending on sail type. (SOONER if using our Ready-Made precuts sails)

  • First step is scheduling a site visit by one of our Sails experts. Execution of the Service Agreement and payment of the deposit (50%) outlined in the agreement.  Site visit fee ($75-$100) includes measurements of area to be shaded, and drawings of design ideas.

  • Once design is selected, the next step is execution of the Service Agreement and payment of the deposit (50%) outlined in the agreement.

  • Installation begins with steel columns installed along with hardware for attachments points.

  • Then point-to-point measurements are taken for each sail, color choice recorded, and your order is expressed to Australia for fabrication.

  • Fabrication can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks depending on season & workload “Down Under”.

  • Once Sails go through customs and Ultimate Shade receives shipment, we will schedule a final appointment rig your shade sails! Final payment is due at this time.

FOR YOUR PROTECTION:

  • Make sure you are dealing with an Arizona Licensed Contractor with K-03 or C-03 rating!!! Ultimate Shade operates under Desert-Sails Contractors License is ROC219862. We are also Members in Good Standing of the Industrial Fabric Association International (IFAI), AIA-American Institute of Architects, AZ Hotel & Lodging Associates, AZ Restaurant & Hospitality Associations.

  • For best quality for your investment, check to make sure sail material is at least 185gsm and has rating for “bursting force” and lists “fire standards”.

  • Make sure the hardware being used is marine grade stainless steel AND that the Custom-Made sails have stainless steel cabling throughout the perimeter which promotes longer life (less stress on material) and withstands higher wind speeds.

  • Installation of poles must adhere to the “1/3 under grade” rule meaning at least 1/3 of the steel column must be buried underground in a cement footing to protect against uplift sails experience. Customers are responsible for any/all involvement with HOA or Planning Commissions.

  • Once you have selected a design an Ultimate Shade Service Agreement will be provided for your signature outlining details of your Shade Sail project.

  • Any/all changes to original design or agreement require a change order & new signatures. A change fee will apply
