Ready-Made Sails can be attached to stable existing structure, or leveraged from well-grounded galvanized steel columns.
*Note: Additional colors, shapes, and sizes available as an upgrade The KEY difference between
Ultimate Shade Alternatives shade sails and other catalogue/retail sails is QUALITY.
Our Sails are made of a higher grade fabric with limited number of seams.
We use a
double row of locking stitch versus typical chain stitch found in other sails. Our
Sails outclass and outlive Coolaroo and other sub quality sails. The hardware used for attachments and corner rings are made of high maritime grade stainless steel guaranteeing strength and durability. The columns we use and recommend are made of Schedule 40/galvanized steel. |

| Custom-Made Sails in Australia and the USA | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The Hottest Trend in shade solutions our Australian-made sleek, graceful, graceful "sail-like" shade canopies offer stunning VISUALS and FUNCTIONALITY at affordable prices. An innovative, economical alternative to awnings and hard structures, Shade Sails allow for air circulation over, under and in between the sails allowing the heat to escape and cooling breezes to flow through. A single Sail can provide shade over an entry, a window or pathway. A series of larger overlapping Sails provide coverage over seating areas, pools, playgrounds, parking areas, courtyards, outdoor kitchens and more. Shade Sails are made of
high-density polyethylene shade cloth that is especially manufactured with
tensioned fabric structures in mind. The knit is made using monofilament and
tape filler. The fabric is treated with Chemisorbs 944 to resist UV breakdown and
ensures a long life with continuous exposure to direct sunlight. Depending on
color, the average shade rating is 90% and the UVR block is approximately 95%. The fabric has been tested for flammability per ASTM requirements and has
a rating of Class 1 Available in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes, these attractive sloping forms can blend into your landscape or make a striking statement. Pricing for your custom or commercial project will vary based on actual size of each sail, hardware required, size and type of posts being used, and installation specifications of your particular site. The following information should be as a guidelines - ONLY. Your Ultimate Shade Alternatives representative will be able to provide you a estimate based on your specific project. Material Options: Standard Premium
Custom sails
are manufactured with a stainless steel cable (wire rope) double locked stitched
into its perimeter. Each corner is further reinforced with extra layers of cloth and
strapping to distribute forces. All stitching is performed using a locking
stitch, outdoor "awning maker" thread is used throughout. The sizes of
stainless cable and rings, as well as attachment hardware are engineered to be
the appropriate size for each sail and application. The perimeter
of each sail has a catenary curve design that controls the fabric tension in the
center of the sail. Standard curve is 10% of the side's perimeter. A 20
feet perimeter will have a 2 foot curve or indentation at perimeters center
point. They will not sag or flap in the wind. Sails can be attached to
existing structures with a variety of common or custom made stainless steel
hardware. They can also be supported by Schedule 40 galvanized steel columns
embedded in concrete footings. The dimensions of the pipe and the footings are
engineered for each sail and its application depending on the size of the sail
and the expected wind loading. The columns can be powder coated or painted to
help protect them and provide the desired color.
